“Learn to look” is the theme that drives the experiences for the Environmental Education Pavilion at Shangri La.

Hands On! designed the Pavilion activities to support and broaden the educational offerings for elementary students and families elsewhere in the Gardens. Visitors observe, listen, touch and identify animals, plants, invertebrates and the larger ecological issues of the cypress-tupelo ecosystem. Activities are designed to promote conversation about environmental interconnections, emphasizing the idea that our everyday choices directly impact the natural world.

Hands On! also worked with Lake/Flato Architects and Shangri La staff to select environmentally friendly fabrication materials, helping the entire project achieve a rare LEED Platinum certification.
